ASSA ABLOY recently entered into an agreement to acquire Amecor, a South African manufacturer specialising in security communication equipment.

ASSA ABLOY and Amecor

Since its establishment in 1994, Amecor has grown its operations, boasting around 120 employees with its main office and factory located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The acquisition is anticipated to have a positive impact on earnings per share (EPS) from the beginning.

Nico Delvaux, President and CEO, ASSA ABLOY remarked: “I am very pleased to welcome Amecor into the ASSA ABLOY Group.

“This constitutes a next step in our strategy to further strengthen our position in this important market.”

Meeting evolving needs

It’s crucial to emphasise that the finalisation of this acquisition is contingent upon receiving regulatory approval and meeting standard closing conditions.

ASSA ABLOY foresees the completion of the process in the second quarter of 2024.

This move reflects the company’s strategic effort to strengthen its presence in the South African security market by incorporating Amecor’s expertise.

The acquisition, according to the company, aligns with its commitment to enhancing its product portfolio and providing innovative security solutions to meet the evolving needs of the South African security landscape.

“Reinforce our long-term commitment”

Neil Vann, Executive Vice President, ASSA ABLOY and Head of EMEIA Division concluded: “The Amecor team has a 30-year history in the South African security sector with a suite of reliable and leading products in the alarm segment.

“Amecor will reinforce our long-term commitment to the South African and Sub-Saharan markets and there are numerous synergies with our electronic security solutions business, that will add great benefit to our customers.”
