Siemens, Enlighted and Zumtobel Group have announced a strategic partnership aimed at advancing the adoption of smart building technologies worldwide, particularly focusing on intelligent IoT lighting.

The collaboration between the companies seeks to establish new standards for efficiency and sustainability in building operations.

The partnership

At the core of the partnership is the technical integration of Enlighted’s smart sensors into Zumtobel Group’s lighting portfolio, encompassing both Zumtobel and Thorn brands.

This integration will result in a comprehensive suite of IoT smart lighting solutions designed to enhance occupant wellbeing and support sustainable, energy efficient building operations.

The partnership will primarily target commercial buildings, higher education institutions and smart hospitals.

Alfred Felder, CEO, Zumtobel Group commented: “Bringing together two leaders of smart lighting technology creates an opportunity to innovate and accelerate the delivery of advanced IoT solutions to our customers.

“The combination of these brands will elevate the smart building market and expand what is possible in terms of functionality, efficiency and user experience.”

The main goal of the partnership is to provide faster access to technology solutions and services that can contribute to decarbonising buildings, improving occupant experiences and ensuring cost effective operations.

Bundles comprising Zumtobel Group fixtures and Enlighted specialised sensors will simplify ordering processes, particularly for new construction and retrofit projects.

Leveraging Enlighted’s wireless network design will enable swift deployment without the need for complex wiring, ensuring precise installations.

Additionally, intelligent lighting configurations, combined with smart IoT data collection and analysis, will enable real time location tracking within buildings for more informed operational decision making.

“Pave the way”

Dave Hopping, CEO, Solutions and Services, Siemens Smart Infrastructure commented: “With valuable insights and analytics, smart lighting solutions can enable more intelligent decision making and drive sustainable innovation to transform interactions with the built environment.

“With the shared vision of this partnership, we are dedicated to providing solutions which prioritise occupant wellbeing and pave the way for significant energy savings and IoT data solutions.”

Beyond enhancing Siemens’ solutions and services portfolio to support customers’ energy reduction, decarbonisation and sustainability goals, the partnership offers valuable access to building data captured from Enlighted’s smart IoT sensors.

The data empowers decision makers to optimise operations, prioritise energy efficiency and create more comfortable, sustainable spaces ready for future occupants.
