The International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) has announced the appointment of Mike Hurst, CPP FREC MSyI, to its board of directors.

“Mike is a natural and welcome addition to the International Board; he brings a wealth of experience and reach well beyond the security profession,” IFPO Chairman, Dr. Linda Florence, CPP, said. “As a new member of the board, he is already making an impact, jumping into projects and providing a broader global perspective. Mike’s passion for the security profession is evident in everything he does; he is the consummate professional, with a natural ability to find and connect talent. As the IFPO continues to grow our global reach, we are lucky to have Mike join the Board as a Director.”

IFPO Executive Director Sandi Davies attested to Hurst’s professional approach to the security industry.

“Having worked with Mike in the past and presently working with Mike on the IFPO UK/Ireland expansion, I know first-hand that he is a true professional,” Davies said.

Hurst is a long-time member of IFPO and, in 2020, established the IFPO UK/Ireland branch to promote the training and career development opportunities offered by IFPO. He served as Vice Chair of the ASIS International UK Chapter for 10 years and the European Advisory Council for nine.

Currently, Hurst is a member of its Awards Committee and Secretary of its Extremism and Political Instability Community (EPIC). In addition, he was a main board director of The Security Institute in the UK and is a board member of The Security Commonwealth, the umbrella organisation for security membership groups in the UK. Hurst also sits on the British Standards Institute Security Services and Management Committee.
