HID has confirmed the release of its new VAL150 Platform Ticket Validator.
VAL150 Platform Ticket Validator
The VAL150 – an open architecture validator – features a multimedia ticket reader capable of processing barcodes, QR codes, closed loop transit cards and open loop contactless EMV payments.
According to HID, the VAL150 is integrated with a Linux computer and is housed in a weatherproof casing and is therefore ideal for outdoor public transportation environments.
The HID ticket validator is used by the Milwaukee County Transit System on its CONNECT 1 BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) stations as part of the WisGo fare collection system.
This is powered by Umo Mobility, part of Cubic Transportation Systems.
Read and validate
The VAL150 incorporates HID TripTick technology to read and validate a wide range of ticket types.
Not only does this include barcodes and QR codes, but it is also capable of validating closed loop transit cards and open loop contactless EMV payments via a single interface.
By modernising fare collection, agencies and operators provide passengers with a frictionless way to pay and board.
Not only does this contribute to increased ridership, but it increases efficiency and security.
