International Security Journal discusses the Paxton Tech Tour 2023 with Dan Drayton, the company’s Divisional Director – EMEA Sales Region.

Paxton, the international security technology manufacturer, is on the road to meeting and training more installers than ever before.

This year, the Paxton Tech Tour will be travelling around France, Germany, Sweden and South Africa and will be giving installers the chance to further develop their knowledge and explore business opportunities with Paxton’s extensive range of products.

In this exclusive interview, International Security Journal Editor, James Thorpe, caught up with Dan Drayton, Divisional Director – EMEA Sales Region, Paxton to learn more about the format of this exciting event and how valuable the experience is for all the attendees

What is the Paxton Tech Tour?

The Paxton Tech Tour is a product showcase and business event, run across half-day sessions. There is no cost for installers to attend and our Paxton specialists will be traveling to different locations in France, Germany, Sweden and South Africa, making sure that the tour is easily accessible to our installers in their country.

This is an opportunity for us to engage with installers across the regions, showcasing our full range of access control and video management products. The tour gives installers a chance to experience our latest technology and explore how Paxton products can add value to their customers and business.

Why did you decide to launch the tour?

Meeting and communicating with customers at large events has always been an important communication tool at Paxton. However, restrictions, as a result of the pandemic, played a huge part in preventing them over the past three years. The Paxton Tech Tour creates an opportunity to help our installers meet and interact with us face-to-face.

It allows us to have quality conversations with our customers, gaining real time feedback about our technology in action. Installers will get dedicated time with our experts to discuss their specific project needs.

Why is it important for Paxton to provide free installer training?

So that installers can fully understand the capabilities of our products and how they can benefit their businesses and customers; we believe the best way to educate is through free training methods.

Paxton is a relatively unique brand in the security industry as we provide a full suite of security products developed and manufactured by our people. These include our flagship access control system Net2, an integrated access control and video management platform called Paxton10, Entry, our video intercom product, as well as PaxLock Pro which are smart wireless door handles.

How is the Paxton Tech Tour different from the training sessions that Paxton usually offers?

Paxton training focuses on hands-on product experience where we develop installers’ knowledge and understanding of a specific system by looking at the equipment and features in depth.

At the Paxton Tech Tour, we have combined the core elements of all these courses and added a commercial seminar to provide a balanced mix of presented content and hands-on time with the products and software.

The tour can be summarised in three key elements: What opportunities are available with Paxton’s offering; how to best tailor Paxton products to meet end users’ security needs and understanding the simplicity of installation and commissioning by getting hands-on experience.

Can you tell us what a tour day looks like?

Each half-day session is designed to be a practical workshop, introducing our four main product offerings. Our specialists will compare the systems and products and explain what solutions can be used to meet project requirements. Attendees will get quality time to use and test the products and we will introduce the resources and support we offer that will make installers’ working lives easier.

What are the benefits for installers to attend?

The primary benefit is the educational aspect of the Paxton Tech Tour. Installers will learn more about Paxton products and services, unlocking the features and benefits to help them customise the security experience for their end users.

We set a limit of no more than 20 people at any event, so they will have individual time with our specialists to talk about anything they want, including security trends, latest technology or specific projects.

Additional benefits include an exclusive Paxton Tech Tour gift box for every attendee, worth around £50. All attendees in each region will be entered into a lucky draw for a chance to win big prizes. Every attendee will be invited to join our Rewards Scheme and will automatically become a Paxton Silver Partner and have exclusive access to purchase product starter kits at discounted prices. And, as we always do, there will be food and refreshments provided at the event.

How can installers sign up?

The tour is completely free for installers to join; they can simply sign up through the Paxton website in their respective region or contact their local Paxton representatives or distributors.

Finally, what do you want the installers to get out of the tour?

We want to provide a world class experience for all the attendees. It will be fun and informative, ensuring that everybody leaves the event fully understanding the potential of using Paxton products in their business.

We want everyone to leave with motivation, a fantastic new network and looking forward to their next or first Paxton installation.
