Milestone Systems, a provider of open platform video management software, has appointed Marlene Lyhne Sorensen as Director for Corporate Affairs.

The Corporate Affairs Director will support and act as key strategic advisor to Milestone’s CEO and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on all matters relating to corporate and public affairs.

“As part of Milestone’s strategic journey and growth ambition, we want to further strengthen our focus on responsibility around the development, sales and use of video technology. Milestone has taken several important steps already, but we want to do more. With Marlene’s international mindset, journalistic background and her broad experience with strategic communications and advisory, I’m confident she will be an important asset to Milestone within this field,” commented Thomas Jensen, CEO, Milestone.

Marlene joined Milestone Systems in 2020 as regional communications manager responsible for media strategy and execution in EMEA. Before joining Milestone, she was a lead specialist working with sustainability strategy and communication in an international engineering company. Prior to that she has held roles as advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, political reporter at the Danish Parliament and as a foreign correspondent in Tehran, Iran.

As the Director for Corporate Affairs, Marlene will set the direction for Milestone’s responsibility agenda and lead a team to deliver across public affairs, government relations and strategic partnerships. The work will be done in close collaboration with Technology Group, Legal, Marketing, Communications and other relevant departments at Milestone Systems. Marlene will report directly to CEO Thomas Jensen.

“Technology is an important part of the solution to some of the largest challenges in society today. Whether it is pollution, scarcity of resources, or protection of people and assets. With AI and IoT even more intriguing opportunities will arrive. But all these technological advances not only bring benefits,” said Marlene Lyhne Sørensen, Director for Corporate Affairs at Milestone Systems.

She continued: “They also represent threats to individual privacy and civil rights if applied and used for the wrong purpose. As a leading software provider, it is clearly Milestone’s responsibility to address those difficult dilemmas and minimise risks. I am really looking forward to working with colleagues across the business as well as external stakeholders to further strengthen our commitment and contribution to responsible technology.”
