i-PRO has announced that the Buffalo Public School District (BPSD) has upgraded its security infrastructure by incorporating the company’s multi-sensor and 360° fisheye network cameras, along with its NV300 network video recorders (NVR).
i-PRO’s solution
Serving 28,000 K-12 students across 70 facilities in western New York, US the BPSD initiated the modernisation project by replacing 2% of older interior PTZ cameras with i-PRO 5MP fisheye network cameras for expanded 360° coverage, while updating obsolete recorders with i-PRO NV300 NVRs.
Over multiple phases, a significant portion of the 5,000 older cameras were upgraded with the company‘s new vandal resistant dome cameras, additional 360° fisheye cameras and strategically positioned multi sensor cameras for exterior areas and communal spaces.
Furthermore, additional NVRs were upgraded to the latest NX400 recorders equipped with ASM300 monitoring software.
The modernisation initiative addresses limitations in camera coverage, ensuring comprehensive surveillance and allowing for the replacement of redundant camera setups with more efficient solutions.
“A huge benefit”
John Waterhouse, Security Engineer, BPSD commented: “Feedback from across the district has been extremely positive. Our teams love the i-PRO cameras.
“Reducing camera count was a huge benefit not only for our budget but in terms of maintenance, too.”
Waterhouse also pointed to a critical but important benefit to modernising with a solution that builds in cybersecurity by design, noting that in a recent ransomware attack on the district: “The i-PRO cameras and recording system were immune to the attack.
“They performed flawlessly throughout the event.”
