NHS Nightingale Hospital London was the first of a number of temporary hospitals set up by NHS England in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is located in the ExCeL convention centre and has an initial capacity for 500 beds, with the potential for that to increase to 4,000.

It was a monumental project, completed in under two weeks and with the help of thousands of security and logistics professionals.

Wilson James‘ Jason West, Head of Logistics and Security Integration at NHS Nightingale London spoke exclusively to International Security Journal as part of our “Leaders in Security” video interview series. West revealed how Wilson James came to be involved in the project as well as what it was like working behind the scenes on such a monumental operation.
