The Last Word: Location tracking and risk management

The-Last-Word-with-Colin-Dale,-Vismo

Colin Dale, Director of Global Sales, Vismo discusses how important location tracking and risk management is for organisations and how the company’s app can increase safety.

What type of location tracking and risk management solutions does Vismo provide?

The Vismo solution is a live tracking global positioning system on a highly optimised, accurate, reliable mobile app.

For those areas of the world where there is no mobile coverage, Vismo supports satellite tracking via devices using the Iridium network, ensuring continuous location visibility even in remote or high-risk regions.

How do you see these solutions evolving in the future?

The future lies in integration. Organisations want a unified view of all risk and location intelligence in a single portal, reducing the need to monitor multiple platforms.

Pulling everything into a single portal is key to a lot of organisations and it’s something we do.

The big difference is in the way we do it as we are completely vendor agnostic. If a client is working with one risk provider that we don’t currently support, we can integrate that into the Vismo portal as well.

This means that clients can pick and choose their own individual providers, and we can integrate that into one into one portal for them.

What makes your solutions stand out to organisations?

Vismo stands out for its live tracking, so we locate someone’s precise location in near real time. We can also detect when an individual is in a high-risk area and we then send a notification to the individual, a group of people or the organisation.

We work with organisations who can provide 24/7 monitoring services and operations centres of a clients employees enabling 24/7 situational awareness and support.

What have been the major milestones for Vismo?

For me, I think a major milestone is moving into mass communications. Our Notify system enables organisations to target a whole organisation, whether it’s 100 people or whether it’s 45,000 people, and provide them with any form of assistance.

Another key development has been partnering with expert leaders in the security sector allowing us pull location tracking and risk data to better support global teams and lone workers alike.

Who is the Vismo app suitable for?

The technology isn’t just limited to large corporates, NGO’s and government agencies with international business travellers; it can be used by loan workers, such as community nurses working out in the field.

Regardless of whether a person is working remotely from their supervisor, it is still a duty of care requirement to ensure they are safe and, if there was an emergency, there is a way to contact emergency services using the panic button on the Vismo app.

Although we are talking about security, it’s also a lone working solution.

What are the key benefits of the Vismo app?

In a crisis location visibility is everything. If something goes wrong, an organisation goes into panic mode about locating where their staff are.

While we can’t predict natural disasters or civil unrest with the Vismo app, organisations have a location on the person within the last five minutes, allowing them to assess whether they were affected by the emergency.

The app allows organisations to locate their people, ensure they’re safe and allows two-way messaging and the ability to escalate using a panic button – and, if required, extracting them from danger.
