With in-person events gradually returning for the security industry, the next highlight on the calendar is ISC West 2022, taking place from 22-25 March in Las Vegas USA. To find out more about what will be on offer at the show, International Security Journal sat down with Event Director, Mary Beth Shaughnessy.

Doing business in-person

Following the COVID-enforced hiatus of physical events and after hosting a hybrid show in July 2021, ISC West is back with a bang this year. Thousands of security professionals are expected to gather at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas to see some of the latest cutting-edge solutions from security providers and hear from the foremost security thought leaders in the world.

Mary Beth Shaughnessy can’t wait for the show to start: “Our entire show team is super excited to get back to business. The show floor is more than double the size of last year’s event and we are already 85% ahead of the visitor registrations that we received for the July 2021 event. In terms of numbers, we have more than 550 exhibitors taking part and we are expecting over 15,000 visitors.”

Shaughnessy and her team have noticed a real appetite for the return of in-person shows, rather than their virtual alternatives: “I would say that people are definitely ready for the return of in-person trade shows. We have consulted with our clients and partner groups and the overwhelming feedback is that it’s time to move on from virtual events. We can’t do everything over the internet, you need to have that in-person interaction to do great business.

“Virtual meetings are useful to keep in touch with your customers year-round, but there is nothing that can compare to the in-person experience of meeting people face-to-face and seeing all the new technologies in one location.”

An elevated experience

For the thousands of people that will be attending ISC West, the RX team has some real treats in store. Shaughnessy revealed: “We have put a lot of thought into elevating the show this year and we have re-imagined it, modernised it and re-organised the show floor for better customer experience and navigation.

“The SIA New Products and Solutions Awards area will now be positioned in the heart of the show floor, where it will be the hub of the excitement at ISC West. We want to put extra focus on what’s new and innovative in the industry and with ISC West being the first show of the year, the SIA NPS area is where all these new products and solutions will be featured.”

She continued: “Adjacent to this area, we will also feature a new content hub, The Bridge. Powered by Intel, this will be our innovation stage where we will dive into a number of the most relevant topics in security right now. Some of the subjects being discussed include: diversity and security, emerging technologies, physical and cyber convergence, plus many more. We are really excited to present this elevated show experience for our customers for 2022 and beyond.”

Meet the biggest names in the industry

Over 550 leading security providers are returning to showcase their technologies and solutions at ISC West 2022. The list of confirmed exhibitors includes: Axis Communications, Hanwha Techwin, Genetec, Bosch and ASSA ABLOY.

Shaughnessy added: “I would also like to highlight our Emerging Technology area, which is proving extremely popular this year. More than 50 exhibitors will be featured in this area (in addition to over 100+ new to the Show Floor in general), including several companies that are working on AI platforms, such as Alcatraz AI and Corsight AI.”

Running alongside the exhibition will also be an in-depth conference program, featuring over 65 SIA Education@ISC sessions. Shaughnessy detailed what some of the main themes of the conference will be: “We have based the conference around the 2022 SIA Megatrends report. Therefore, it will revolve around AI, cybersecurity, supply chain assurance, workforce development, increased operability and data privacy. We are focused on providing content that will educate the audience and give them a much clearer picture of what the future of security will look like.”

She concluded: “I’m really excited to see friends and colleagues once again, we can’t wait to provide a genuine WOW experience for our customers and partners.”
