A major US sports and entertainment venue has deployed an innovative screening solution to increase security at entrances during live events.

The Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Tennessee, which has a capacity of 58,000, will utilise Xtract One Technologies’ SmartGateway solution which has been designed for high throughput.

The stadium is owned by the City of Memphis and is managed by Oak View Group.

Prioritising fan safety

SmartGateways will be deployed in two phases at the venue, with the first phase beginning 15 April.

SmartGateway can be customised to meet specific customer needs and security requirements. By utilising AI-powered sensors, Xtract One’s solution provides fast and reliable patron screening, replacing the need for metal detectors.

The solution also enables unobtrusive scanning of patrons for prohibited items such as guns and knives, without invading privacy and comfort; this makes the screening process less intimidating and more efficient for patrons entering the facility.

“As we began preparations for the start of the USFL season, we wanted to optimise our security screening technology,” said Thomas Carrier, Oak View Group’s General Manager, Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

“At the stadium and across Oak View Group, we prioritise fan safety, while simultaneously leveraging innovation to enhance the fan experience. The kickoff of the new USFL season was a logical starting point to introduce Xtract One’s SmartGateway screening solutions.

“It is one of many prevention strategies coming to the venue for the safety and security of fans, teams, talent and staff, which we will continue using throughout the year, including during Memphis Tigers games and for the Southern Heritage Classic and AutoZone Liberty Bowl.”

“It is important for community and commercial enterprises to work on collaborative solutions that allow guests to focus on fun and togetherness and cheering on their teams,” said Mayor Jim Strickland.

“The City of Memphis, Oak View Group and Xtract One are together enhancing the safety of the fans and our community.”
