Synectics has announced its new AI-driven features within its Synergy security and surveillance software.

The latest release (v24.2) launches Synergy DETECT which is part of Synergy’s AI Suite, working alongside advancements to existing mobile app capabilities, improved data and privacy protection tools, as well as new third-party integrations.

AI-powered risk detection

Synergy DETECT is compatible with fixed, PTZ and thermal cameras which means that users can easily configure and activate 12 AI-based surveillance tools according to their needs.

Each solution has a different focuses including:

  • Spotting safety concerns such as worker trips and falls
  • Unauthorised entry to hazardous zones
  • Deviations from safety equipment protocols to identifying crowd formation
  • Intrusion
  • Suspicious behaviours such as loitering

“Empowering teams to make quicker, smarter decisions”

Dan Noble, Head of Product Strategy, Synergy commented: “The beauty of Synergy DETECT is that it puts the power of AI directly in the hands of our users in a way adaptable to their unique needs.

“Whether managing safety on an industrial site or crowd control in a public space environment, the AI tools allow you to tailor real-time detection and analysis to meet specific operational goals.”

He added: “It’s not just about surveillance; it’s about empowering teams to make quicker, smarter decisions when it matters most.”

Mobile app advancements

More advanced improvements have been made on Synergy’s mobile app that was launched earlier this year for Android devices.

This means that users can follow dedicated workflows on their devices and view live or recorded footage from selected cameras.

The new enhanced tracking, mapping and live task updates ensures that control room teams can see colleagues’ locations and the status of duties assigned.

Noble later commented: “The ability to access live or recorded footage and follow workflows directly from a mobile device transforms how teams respond to potential threats.

“Imagine a security officer investigating an intruder – now, they can instantly access location maps, camera feeds and updates from their phone.

“This speeds up response times and ensures real-time data informs every decision. It’s a game-changer for coordination between field teams and control rooms.”

Simplified data protection and compliance

The Synergy release also introduces tools to ensure ethical and compliant use of surveillance capabilities.

A policy creation wizard allows organisations to set up clear, easy-to-follow usage protocols for web and mobile app users.

Synectics notes that this will ensure full compliance with data protection regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The existing privacy tools have been enhanced. A new “critical exception authorisation” feature allows designated users to temporarily bypass video privacy zones during emergencies, ensuring critical information is available when it’s needed most.

User experience and integrations

The new release focuses on enhancing the user experience.

The update includes an easier-to-access ‘Help’ function and new ‘time hop’ options for faster video review.

A PSN status dashboard has also been added to monitor system performance, simplifying troubleshooting for users.

Synergy now integrates with AXIS Event Streaming, which facilitates comprehensive support for all events originating from compatible Axis cameras and Hanwha AI Analytics.

This enables instant alarm notifications from Hanwha’s edge-based AI analytics.

Noble concluded: “The latest version of Synergy underscores Synectics’ commitment to innovation in security and surveillance.

“Combining AI-driven risk detection, enhanced mobile access and robust data protection tools, Synergy empowers organisations to improve security, boost efficiency and maintain compliance, all while making faster more informed decisions.”
