Integrated surveillance solutions enhance security for UK schools

IDIS has confirmed that by working with integration partner Apex Network Solutions, the companies have provided video surveillance for two large UK schools.
The schools – which form part of the Wade Deacon Trust in Merseyside – required cost-effective and reliable solutions.
Wade Deacon High School
IDIS recently announced that Wade Deacon High School, the largest school in the trust, aimed to address several issues with its early generation IP CCTV system, including poor usability, rising maintenance costs and variable image quality.
The objective assigned to Apex was to provide a solution that would have the lowest cost of ownership (TCO), minimal ongoing operating burden and easy adaptability to meet future requirements.
The system has been specifically designed to provide discreet coverage of corridors, indoor communal areas, entrances, building perimeters and high value sporting facilities that are at risk of vandalism during non-operational hours.
Hillside High School
The Wade Deacon Trust’s Hillside High School, Bootle also needed to update its aging CCTV system, however, installation was difficult as a result of the school’s 1930s architecture.
With the school wanting to also address usability, gaps in coverage, variable image quality and rising maintenance costs, Apex designed an end-to-end solution taking advantage of IDIS rapid plug-and-play deployment and seamless device compatibility.
This solution enabled full system functionality without installation glitches, something particularly valuable at older sites such as Hillside where cabling options are limited.
Upgrading the existing cameras with IDIS’ high definition models was a straightforward process; the addition of new cameras in strategic locations ensured complete coverage.
The enhanced system now consists of seventy high-definition internal and external domes and bullets as well as the sought-after 12MP IDIS Super Fisheye.
