Suprema has introduced ‘Template on Mobile (ToM),’ a new authentication method, in response to mounting global concerns about biometric data usage and tightening regulations.
Suprema’s solution
The solution allows users to securely store and manage their facial image data, essential for access authentication, directly on their personal smartphones.
ToM combines facial authentication with mobile access, providing benefits to users and administrators.
Users can conveniently access buildings using only their smartphones, eliminating the need for physical keys or RFID cards, which are prone to loss or damage.
Additionally, ToM enables users to easily enrol or update their facial images for authentication directly from their smartphones, ensuring that personal data remains stored and managed solely on the user’s device.
From an administrative perspective, ToM streamlines management processes by allowing users to self-enroll and update their photos for authentication.
This eliminates the need to store personal information within the system, ensuring compliance with regulations such as GDPR and reducing burdens for companies and administrators.
Improve operational speed
Moreover, the adoption of ToM can result in cost savings for companies, as there is no need for additional server expansion to store data and a reduction in demand for card issuance/reissuance.
Additionally, the decrease in plastic usage aligns with environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.
Although the company‘s ToM initially faced challenges related to transmitting large facial photos via Bluetooth on smartphones, Suprema claims to have addressed this issue through the development and patenting of BLE communication speed optimisation technology.
The enhancement is said to improve operational speed and contributed to ToM’s recognition by Korea’s Public Procurement Service in February, where it was acknowledged for its technology and quality.
Consequently, its adoption in government and public institutions, where highly advanced security and strict compliance with sensitive data usage are essential, is expected to increase further.
“Empower businesses and individuals worldwide”
Hanchul Kim, CEO, Suprema commented: “In the era of mobile technology and widespread biometric adoption, we proudly introduce ToM as a ground breaking authentication method, a pioneering innovation in the security industry.”
“Our commitment is to empower businesses and individuals worldwide, providing them with the highest level of security while ensuring a user-friendly experience.”
