Smiths Detection’s technology

The technology, which includes 12 HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX X-ray scanners and 12 iLane A20 automatic tray return systems, is scheduled for deployment at the North and South Domestic Checkpoints.

According to the company, this strategic placement is designed to enhance security screening efficiency, prioritising expeditious processes without compromising on stringent safety standards.

The HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX, a computed tomography (CT) X-ray scanner, offers high-resolution 3D imaging for swift baggage assessment, allowing passengers to retain liquids and electronics in their hand luggage.

Accompanying this, the iLane A20, a fully automated tray return system, ensures optimal throughput and efficiency, streamlining the screening process and reducing passenger bottlenecks.

“Enhance security”

Aurelien Guilbert, North & South Asia Market Head, Smiths Detection stated: “We’re thrilled to be working Fukuoka International Airport to enhance security and improve the overall passenger experience by allowing passengers to leave large electronics and liquids in their carry-on bags.

“Already in use across country, the H-SCAN 6040 CTiX is the leading checkpoint CT X-ray in Japan.”
