Sepura is set to introduce its latest product, the SCL3, at the upcoming BAPCO Annual Event.
Positioned as a rugged broadband hand-portable device, the SCL3 reflects Sepura’s commitment to advancing critical communications technology.
Sepura’s innovation
Alongside the SCU3 Hybrid Broadband Vehicle Device, the SCL3 aims to facilitate the transition to Mission Critical Services (MCX) while minimising associated risks and costs.
The SCL3 offers operational flexibility, capable of functioning as LTE-only or as a hybrid TETRA and 4G/5G device.
The adaptability is intended to provide organisations with a solution for migrating to mission-critical broadband communication systems.
With the option to integrate a TETRA module, the SCL3 streamlines the transition from existing TETRA networks to MCX services, catering to diverse user needs.
Crafted to meet the rigorous demands of mission-critical users, the SCL3 is a rugged 4G/5G handheld device designed to comply with the requirements specified by NCCOM Nordic operators.
Additional features include physical buttons for push-to-talk (PTT) and emergency calls, ensuring familiarity for users accustomed to traditional TETRA devices.
According to the company, the product’s durable construction enables reliable operation in various environmental conditions, underscoring its suitability for frontline deployment.
Additionally, the SCL3 promises a prolonged lifecycle with sustained support for essential components such as hardware, chipset, battery and software.
“Safe and secure”
Peter Hudson, Chief Technology Officer, Sepura commented: “We are delighted to be launching the SCL3 at BAPCO and that the public safety sector are the first to see the new device.
“For customers who are embarking on their migration strategy to LTE, the SCL3 provides a safe and secure path towards MCX that can be started now allowing early use of broadband services whilst maintaining current TETRA communication.”
Augmenting the SCL3 portfolio are a range of essential accessories tailored to the needs of Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) users.
These include chargers, audio peripherals, car kits and carry cases, designed to enhance user experience and utility.
Furthermore, a comprehensive Mobile Device Management (MDM) service facilitates efficient device management and software provisioning, empowering end-user organisations with greater control.
“Best practice, reliability and the latest technology”
Hudson continued: “Building on over 20 years’ experience supplying public safety and other mission critical users, at Sepura we are committed to continually developing and investing in our hybrid portfolio as well as future technologies.
“The SCL3 demonstrates this commitment by combining best practice, reliability and the latest technology to provide users with unparalleled robustness and functionality therefore creating the complete solution for the evolution of Mission Critical Communications.”
The official unveiling of the SCL3 is scheduled to take place at the Annual BAPCO Event in Coventry, UK from 6-7 March 2024.
