This prestigious initiative is said to underscore the organisation’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, diversity and professional development in the security sector.
Notably, nine of fourteen successful applicants are female and 50% come from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic and non-British backgrounds.
Two of the scholarship winners received the news during The Security Institute’s Annual Conference, “The Changing Face of Security”, which was held 16 October.
In a heart-warming moment, they had the honour of meeting members of Baroness Henig’s family, whose legacy of leadership and dedication to public service continues to inspire future generations.
The scholarship winners will receive access to tailored mentorship opportunities, funding for professional development and resources to support their growth as leaders in the security sector.

Speaking on the announcement, Professor Simon Hepburn, CEO, The Security Institute said: “The Baroness Ruth Henig Scholarship is more than a recognition of academic and professional excellence.
“It represents our ongoing commitment to breaking barriers and supporting a diverse pool of talent in the security profession.
“We are thrilled to see this year’s cohort reflecting the broadening nature of our industry as well as the passion and dedication needed to make our field stronger.”
