As The Security Institute’s annual general meeting (AGM) on 25 June 2026 approaches, The Security Institute has confirmed that the current Chair of its Board of Directors, Julie Nel, will be standing down after three years.
In line with the Institute’s continuing commitment to professionalism, strong governance and best practice, Christopher (Chris) Stevens – currently Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors – has been appointed Chair Elect.

Nel will remain Chair ahead of the AGM, with Stevens working alongside her to ensure a structured transition.
Following the AGM, Stevens will formally assume the role of Chair, who is said to bring with him extensive experience across policing, transport security and major infrastructure projects.
