RGB Spectrum has announced that the New Iberia Police Department (NIPD) is enhancing public safety with a new real-time crime centre (RTCC).

The facility has been designed to provide a comprehensive view of citywide activities.

Incorporation of RGB

RTTC uses RGB Spectrum’s Zio W4000 video wall processor, the Zio W4000, which supports 4K, 60Hz resolution end-to-end and accommodates a mix of local baseband, IP video and web-based inputs.

The processor uses video and critical data from all sources for display on a Samsung 140″ all-in-one LED screen.

This ensures operators have a clear and comprehensive view of the city’s surveillance feeds.

Captain Leland Laseter, New Iberia Police Department commented: “With state-of-the-art technology, including sound and enhanced vehicle and person identification, the new systems have already helped solve crime in the area.”

NIPD’s plans

The crime centre has seen the support of $1.6 million in state funding with the NIPD planning to deploy nearly 500 advanced surveillance cameras across 125 locations.

The cameras will be placed strategically across each location. Each location will have four devices to deliver a 360 degree view of key areas.

This will boost the departments ability to monitor and respond to crime effectivley.

The camera feeds will be displayed on the video wall to allow decision-makers with enhanced situational awareness.

NIPD claims that the integration of RGB Spectrum solutions represents a significant step to creating a safer community for New Iberia residents.
