The London Digital Security Centre has been named the winner in the ‘Best SME-Focused Cyber Security Initiative – South East England‘ category at the 2019 Cyber Security Awards.
The Cyber Security Awards are hosted by Acquisition International and recognise companies or organisations that have gone above and beyond in the field of Cyber Security, recently described as one of the fastest-growing industries across the globe and a fundamental feature of all developing technology and software.
In 2015, the Mayors’ Office for Policing and Crime established the London Digital Security Centre (LDSC) in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police to help small and medium sized businesses across the capital reduce their vulnerability to cyber-crime. In 2018, the LDSC was incorporated into the Police Digital Security Centre (PDSC), part of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives.
The PDSC works across the whole of the UK in partnership with industry, government, academia and law enforcement. All PDSC advice and guidance is consistent with that of the National Cyber Security Centre.
Neil Sinclair, National Cyber Lead at the PDSC said of the award: ”It is fantastic that the unique work that LDSC does in the community is being recognised by these prestigious awards.
“Small and medium sized businesses find it difficult to give time and money to dealing with the ubiquitous cyber threat to business, even when they are aware of it, which so many still are not.
“Talking to them face-to-face it helps to put these businesses onto the secure path by introducing national, government and Police best practice at a very personal and quickly implementable level.”
Commenting on the success of the winners, Steve Simpson, Awards Coordinator, said: “Cyber Security is vital in today’s technology driven market, and as such we at Acquisition International Magazine are proud to be able to showcase an expertly-chosen selection of the best of the best from across the industry. I would like to take this opportunity to offer the winners my congratulations and best wishes for the future.”
