The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Kasia Hanson, Global Director – Video, Safety and Security – Network and Edge Group at Intel Corporation, as the 2022 recipient of the SIA Progress Award, an honor presented by SIA’s Women in Security Forum (WISF) celebrating individuals who pave the way to success for women in the security industry. SIA will present Hanson with the award on Wednesday, Nov. 16, during the 2022 SIA Honors Night reception.
Hanson – who serves as SIA’s WISF Chair – leads Intel’s global video, safety and security sales for the company’s Network and Edge Group. Her team drives technology design, go-to-market and ecosystem orchestration strategies that drive revenue and adoption of artificial intelligence and edge technologies across the security industry. She is a 22-year veteran of Intel with deep technology expertise across the Internet of Things, AI, physical security and cybersecurity, data centre and storage. Additionally, Hanson is a Distinguished Fellow for the Innovation Institute for Fan Experience and was named the No. 3 IFSEC Global Security Influencer in 2021.
“I am honored to receive the 2022 SIA Progress Award,” said Hanson. “Paving the way for diversity and inclusion in security is a win-win for the industry that creates opportunities for the next generation of female leaders in security. I’m proud of the work SIA and the Women in Security Forum continue to do to create an inclusive industry today for the future.”
Hanson, who has chaired the SIA Women in Security Forum since 2021, led the 2022 launch of the WISF Power 100, an annual initiative recognising 100 women in the security industry who are role models for actively advancing diversity, inclusion, innovation and leadership in the community. The Power 100 honorees are an accomplished, impactful group who are modeling leadership, inspiring others and transforming the security industry.
Additionally, Hanson has spearheaded a variety of leadership and professional development initiatives through WISF, including informative and inspiring virtual events for and by women and professional development content and networking offerings at major industry trade shows.
“SIA is proud to honor Kasia Hanson with the 2022 SIA Progress Award,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “Kasia has been a creative and inspiring advocate for growing the security industry’s diversity and has helped the SIA Women in Security Forum to bring together people, insights and opportunities that will make our industry even better. Her vision for establishing the SIA Power 100 elevated industry awareness of the substantial impact and contributions made by these exceptional business leaders. Our security community thanks Kasia for her trailblazing efforts and for truly making a difference.”

In addition to presenting the SIA Progress Award, SIA will also recognise the 2022 recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award.
