Devised to provide an informative, educational and memorable event, the CNI Security Group recently held a ‘CNI Security Technology’ Day, aboard the HQS Wellington on the River Thames, London.

Themed around the integration and application of secure, futureproofed end-to-end solutions for critical national infrastructure (CNI) and other high security environments, the CNI Technology Day included a broad range of CPNI approved electronic security equipment solutions.

Showcasing the latest and upcoming CNI/CPNI security technologies, the CNI Security Group’s initiative was underpinned by world class experience from technology members 360 Vision Technology, barox, Harper Chalice, Identiv and ISM.

At the event, a close to capacity audience of key security integrators and specifiers perused a variety of manufacturer displays. The mix of class leading equipment on show had been ‘specifically selected to meet the demanding needs of the CNI sector’ and included surveillance cameras, analytics, access control, perimeter intrusion detection systems, industrial Ethernet switches and PSIM.

Running in the morning and afternoon, two technology seminars along with Q&A sessions encompassed a variety of developments in CNI technologies, with presentations hosted by each of the CNI Security Group’s manufacturer members. The feedback from event delegates agreed that the integrated electronic security product solutions discussed were all well-constructed and educational, imparting invaluable security technology information for the gathering of high security system integrators and consultants present.

“Specialising in high security and multi-site deployments of enterprise class security systems, it’s always beneficial to hear about product updates, CPNI approval updates and successful or unusual case studies,” remarked event delegate Mark Hirst, Area Sales Manager, Evolution Security. “It was great to see the adoption of new and better technology in an area of the industry which has often been stagnant.”

Following each seminar, security and intelligence specialist Philip Ingram MBE was the guest keynote speaker, who presented on the themes of ‘The resetting of global security’ and ‘The power of information’. In his fascinating presentations, Ingram revealed why it is important for businesses to understand the geopolitical context and inter-relationship regarding global threats, trends and risks.

Following mid-day lunch, the free-to-attend event itinerary offered event delegates an opportunity to gain an insight into the history and crucial contribution the HQS Wellington made in Word War II, with a guided tour of the ship by its current Master, Captain Robin Batt.

Speaking about the CNI Security Technology Day to delegate Rick Mounfield, a Chartered Security Professional and Director at Optimal Risk Group, he said: “The beauty of this event was in the way it offered a holistic approach to the development of high security solutions and, by focusing on threats, explained how the technology could support CNI customers. Keeping on top of emerging technologies by CPNI registered providers enables delegates to gain a broader outlook on viable solutions for their customers.

“Beyond the technical solution displays and seminars, the event was useful for its networking too, being able to discuss the serious business of the CNI security arena with other like-minded security professionals.”

Speaking to Sara Fisher, spokesperson for the CNI Security Technology Group and 360 Vision Technology’s Sales Director, she enthused: “We couldn’t have wished for a better turn-out and delegate feedback for this high security solutions themed event.

“We were delighted to engage once again face-to-face with customers, consultants and end users from a broad range of high security sectors and to show live CNI security technology displays of the very latest integrated solutions available, whilst maximising delegates’ understanding. Building on the success of the event, we are now planning the next CNI Security Technology Day.”
