IDIS Solution Suite VMS utilised by university in Turkey

The Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBU), Türkiye, has utilised surveillance solutions from IDIS.
The South Korean manufacturer has deployed IDIS Solution Suite VMS to help streamline operations and transform security at the university.

Annually, 5,500 students study at ASBU’s historic city centre location.
With a busy night-time economy and dynamic campus environment, the university has to prepare for an increased risk of incidents.
A 350-camera surveillance system, monitored 24/7 from ASBU’s dedicated control room, had been expanded several times over the years.
However, the resulting mix of six different vendor brands had left the VMS struggling.
IDIS’ integration partner, 11S Savunma Sanayi ve Güvenlik Sistemleri, was therefore approached to come up with the best upgrade route.
In an on-site proof of concept demonstration, the company showed how IDIS Solution Suite, (ISS Expert) could quickly register all mix-and-match cameras and devices.
This included recorders as well as a 3×3 video wall.
Future enhancement
By partnering with IDIS, ASBU has reduced complexity and enhanced control.
In fact, the system can now be controlled from workstations as well as from the video wall.
The company has also confirmed that IDIS MapVue is being added, with a schematic showing the locations of the cameras.
This will help to improve domain awareness and make navigational playback easier.
A further 100 cameras will be added in the next phase of the project when two renovated accommodation buildings will also benefit from upgraded surveillance.
In addition, ASBU’s security team can now easily comply with requests from law enforcement agencies for video evidence.
With bookmarked event recording making it easy for ASBU operators to skip from scene to scene when reviewing recordings, IDIS Deep Learning Analytics (IDLA) tools will soon be added for faster review.
