i-PRO, a company that provides professional security solutions for video protection and public safety, has announced that it is taking steps in ensuring AI development is complying with global standards through comprehensive AI governance framework.

AI governance framework

This initiative aims to ensure the responsible research, development and utilisation of AI technologies.

The company claims this will build on the ethical principles for AI published by i-Pro in December 2023. To take steps further, i-PRO has introduced the ‘i-PRO AI Ethics Committee’ in June 2024.

The committee oversee the new AI ethics review process, which will be an integral part in the development lifecycle of AI products.

i-PRO plans to introduce AI ethics training for employees with the program starting officially in October 2024.

The increasing use of AI

There is a rapid spread of AI products and services which means that companies need to utilise the use of AI responsibly.

ISO/IEC 42001 is an international standard for AI management systems after being issued in December 2023.

The EU Artificial Intelligence Act, a comprehensive regulation for AI was later approved in May 2024.

i-PRO has confirmed that it is actively trying to address the standards and regulations to highlight its vision to “always create new value contributing to the safety and security of society” through responsible research, development and utilisation of AI.

i-PRO’s history with AI

i-PRO has been involved in AI research and development for numerous years and has been providing solutions that utilise AI technology in security, public safety and medical fields.

Masato Nakao, CEO, i-PRO emphasised the company’s commitment to ethical AI: “i-Pro recognises the significant impact of AI on society.
