Electronic gates at Muscat International Airport, Oman are helping to streamline passenger experiences.

The innovative solutions are enabling citizens (those with ID cards) as well as expatriates with resident cards to clear immigration processes with no human interaction.

“Without showing their passports”

This system is playing a pivotal role particularly during peak travel hours.

According to sources in Oman Airports (and as reported by Zawya): “The new gates have facial recognition that allows citizens and residents to use the system directly without showing their passports…”

By utilising the newly enhanced gates, all that travellers have to do is simply scan their ID card and wait for the camera to analyse their face.

This process now takes less than a minute and the rate of rejection is said to have also been lowered.
