Continuing to expand into new global markets, BCD has announced the hiring of 20-year computer industry veteran, Adel Mrabet. Based in Tunisia, Adel will be focused on positioning the BCD security and surveillance product portfolio throughout North and West Africa as a member of the MERAT team led by Fredy Issa. Adel will serve as Regional Sales Manager — Surveillance and IoT for North and West Africa.

“Video surveillance and Safe Cities are two hot subjects in Africa, a continent where the growth of diverse sectors necessitates the use of cutting-edge video surveillance technology for security and non-security purposes. It encompasses several of the critical sectors, including safe cities, border control, airports, hospitality/tourism, real estate and construction, mining, utilities, dam surveillance and ports. All of this infrastructure must be extremely well-protected to foster a more favourable investment and tourism climate,” noted Mrabet.

Adel has enjoyed a storied career, most recently at Dell Technologies for the past two years, serving Emerging Africa across multiple verticals utilising video surveillance, Smart Cities & IoT, which encompassed smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, smart grid and energy automation, SCADA, smart transportation and education.

“The African market witnessed a slight delay in deploying modern IoT and IP surveillance solutions. The need for ready, validated and certified systems will support the continent in catching up with this delay,” Mrabet said. “I am excited to harness all of BCD’s knowledge and breadth of solutions to address these difficulties and give the best solutions possible to the emerging continent.”

Adel has developed strong relationships across the continent with major CCTV & IoT system integrators and distributors, along with major camera, VMS, PSIM, access control, SCADA, video analytics, IoT platform and sensor vendors.

Prior to Dell, Adel held technology sales-driven positions at NetApp, IBM Corporation and SITA, an IT provider for the air transport industry that delivers solutions for airlines, airports, aircraft and governments.

A 2001 Bachelor of Science in Management and Marketing from IHEC – Carthage in Tunis, Adel has a XProtect Presales and Technical Certification from Milestone Systems, in addition to Data Centre Portfolio Credential from Dell EMC and has a mini-MBA in accounting and finance.
