Axis has begun delivering on its promise to provide FIPS 140-3 Level 3-compliant products under the Federal Information Processing Standards.
Security requirements for cryptographic modules, including The FIPS 140-3, ensures the confidentiality and integrity of data.
The company says that the move will improve the cybersecurity posture of customers in US and Canadian federal agencies, who are obliged to meet FIPS140-3-compliancy requirements.
Levels of security and features
Axis states it is the first to launch a network security device with an embedded discrete element validated to the FIPS 140-3 Standard Level 3. Customers in government will have their security standard matched to that of the law’s requirements.
FIPS 140-3 certification assesses four levels of security. At Level 3, hardware is expected to prevent tampering and access must be identity based.
The concealed secure element is the EdgeLock SE052f from NXP Semiconductors. It provides and promises secure connectivity solutions for trusted security solutions.
Smartphones, bank cards and passports can also be protected by EdgeLock.
A cryptographic computing portfolio with direct investments is a crucial part of the multi-layer Axis Strategy.
Secure storage and computing of cryptographic keys is just one component of the hardware-based cybersecurity platform Axis Edge Vault.
The future for Axis
Axis will continue to expand its range of FIPS 140-3-certified devices by embedding the new element in its upcoming products.
FIPS 140-3-compliance will be available for use of surveillance, business optimisation, access control and audio.
Organisations that are not required to comply with the high FIPS standards will also benefit from its systems being interoperable and will meet long-term security requirements.
