ASIS awards first Associate Protection Professional certifications

ASIS International, the world’s largest association of security management professionals, is pleased to announce the inaugural group of 150+ individuals to hold its new Associate Protection Professional (APP) certification after successfully passing the beta exam.
ASIS certifications have long been recognised as the mark of excellence in security management. The APP joins the association’s three other globally-esteemed certifications—the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and Physical Security Professional (PSP).
Developed to meet the needs of new and transitioning security professionals entering the field, the APP serves as the first rung on a security manager’s career leader. Earning the APP demonstrates an individual possesses a solid understanding of knowledge and skills required in security management, including:
- Security management fundamentals
- Business operations
- Risk management
- Response management
“I am incredibly gratified to congratulate the first batch of APP certificants,” says William Moisant, CPP, PSP, President, ASIS Professional Certification Board (PCB). “Developing the APP was a huge undertaking and the PCB is truly grateful for the commitment of everyone involved. I look forward to the APP joining the CPP, PCI and PSP certifications as the security industry’s stamp of professionalism across the globe.”
The APP is designed for those with one to four years of security management experience, including those who transition into security careers from military and law enforcement careers. Applications are now being accepted.
