Advent IM has set to counter the escalating threat of data breaches with the launch of its new training academy in the UK.

The growing complexity of attacks

Current research indicates a continuous upward trajectory in the cost of data breaches each year and the trend is expected to persist in 2024.

Human error stands out as the primary cause of security breaches, with just under one-fifth of UK businesses offering security training.

With the mean time to identify a data breach increasing from 191 to 204 days since 2017, highlighting the growing complexity of attacks, the role of human factors becomes crucial.

Recognising this, the company is expanding its training footprint, increasing trainers, supplying course material and offering a wider range of courses.

The Advent IM Academy, launching on 1 February 2024, provides both on-site and virtual courses.

Mike Gillespie, Managing Director and Co-Founder, Advent IM emphasised the significance of quality education and training in enhancing organisational resilience.

He expressed: “At Advent IM we have long known the value of quality, targeted and role specific education and training in building an organisation’s resilience.

“Effective training hugely reduces the likelihood of our own people causing a data breach by positively affecting their behaviours, attitudes and belief systems, it builds a positive information culture and it increases the ability to resist an external attack or incursion.

“Make businesses secure”

Gillespie concluded: “Education and training has been part of Advent IM’s core offering for many years.

“The launch of the Advent IM Academy marks an evolution in our ability to continue to deliver excellent quality, whilst also expanding our portfolio to ensure that we continue to make businesses secure through training.”
