Acronis has welcomed hundreds of attendees representing service providers, resellers and corporations to the Acronis #CyberFit Summit, taking place at the beautiful Yas Island Rotana at Abu Dhabi to discuss the modern approach to cyber protection.

The event includes exciting announcements of new solutions, customer showcases, exclusive networking opportunities and educational keynote sessions focused on the rapidly-growing demand for cyber protection.

With its rapid development of IT infrastructure, the Middle East is an attractive target for hackers. In the UAE alone, a recent report showed a 12% increase in malware attacks occurring in the first three months of 2019 compared to the same period last year.

At the event, three new cyber protection solutions — Acronis Cyber Protect, Acronis Cyber Platform and Acronis Cyber Infrastructure will be officially launched in the Gulf Region, aiming to revolutionise how the industry solves modern data protection and cybersecurity challenges.

  • Acronis Cyber Protect: integrates seven key cyber protection capabilities into one easy-to-use solution – including backup, disaster recovery, AI-based protection against malware, data authenticity certification and validation, vulnerability assessments, patch management and remote monitoring and management.
  • Acronis Cyber Platform: provides developers and ISVs the ability to customise, extend and integrate Acronis Cyber Protection solutions.
  • Acronis Cyber Infrastructure: delivers cost-efficient, easy-to-use and reliable hyper-converged infrastructure optimised for cyber protection deployments.

The Middle East is one of the fastest growing markets for Acronis, with 6,000 resellers promoting and using Acronis technology in the region. The Acronis #CyberFit Summit served as a gathering hub for many of these companies, including StarLink, one of the fastest growing “True” Value-Added-Distributors (VADs) and Ingram Micro, one of the world’s largest distributor of hardware and software products, including cloud solutions.

Cloud adoption is one area in particular that is witnessing tremendous growth in the Middle East. Nidal Othman, Co-Founder and Managing Director of StarLink, believes that the Acronis #CyberFit Summit comes at an opportune time for enterprises looking for a secure way to start using cloud technology.

He added that: “There is an influx of cloud vendors entering the lucrative MENA market which is estimated at US$2.2 billion and is expected to increase by 24% yearly on average, and talking specifically of UAE, the government is allocating big resources to cloud technology to power their smart city projects. The timing is perfect for Acronis as it has established itself as a one-stop shop for any business’ cyber protection needs and their unique approach to cyber protection ensures both high security and ease of access to data.”
