3DX-Ray has introduced its latest innovation, the ThreatScan AS2 flat panel, designed for its portable x-ray system, at Intersec 2024.
This new panel, specifically crafted for operators working in restricted-access areas, boasts a smaller footprint and slightly improved resolution compared to its predecessor, the AS1.
Ideal for rapid deployment
Utilising glassless technology, the AS2 reduces size and weight while maintaining an exceptional dead zone cut-off of less than 3mm on two sides.
Its compact size and reduced weight make it ideal for backpacking and rapid deployment applications.
Vincent Deery, CEO, 3DX-RAY LTD commented: “Intersec is always a very good event and location to start our year and this year we are delighted to introduce the new ThreatScan AS2 to the 3DX-Ray range of products.
“We are talking to our customers and are always innovating to meet their evolving needs.
“It was clear to us from that dialogue that operators often find themselves struggling to deploy the larger panels in very restricted spaces.
“So, we took it upon ourselves to address the issue by designing the ThreatScan AS2 to meet those operational requirements and are very pleased to introduce it at Intersec.”
3DX-Ray’s established products
In addition to featuring the ThreatScan AS2, 3DX-Ray is showcasing its established products currently in service with EOD units globally, including the ThreatScan-AS1(ISC), ThreatScan-LS1 and ThreatScan-LS3.
The ThreatScan-AS1(ISC) is a robust amorphous silicon portable x-ray inspection system, consisting of:
- Detector panel with a 43 x 35cm imaging area
- High penetration 150kV generator
- Laptop
- Batteries
- Chargers
- User-friendly ThreatSpect software
- Wireless communication
- Transport case
The company reports that despite its lightweight, thin, portable and battery-powered design, the ThreatScan-LS1 is a powerful large-format x-ray scanning system with a 600mm x 460mm imaging area.
It can penetrate up to 40mm of steel at 120kV and up to 60mm at 150kV, providing high-quality, sub-millimetre resolution images.
The ThreatScan-LS3 is a compact yet powerful x-ray scanning system that can penetrate steel up to 40mm at 120kV and up to 60mm at 150kV.
With a 305mm x 256mm imaging area, it allows the scanning of typical bags and packages in one scan, fitting securely into a backpack.
