2N has undertaken an extensive upgrade of a residential project in the UK aimed at enhancing security measures while facilitating residents’ ability to manage calls remotely when away from home.
Sperry and Gilbert House, comprising both private and social housing units, constitute integral components of a larger residential complex.
Although each apartment block operates independently, they share a common main gate and access is facilitated through the basement car park.
The interconnectedness of the two buildings necessitated a comprehensive access control system upgrade, emphasising modern IP solutions adaptable to evolving technological advancements.
Key priorities included integrating mobile applications to enable residents to receive calls remotely and incorporating a CCTV IP system to monitor incidents around entry points.
Additionally, the system needed to accommodate GDPR-compliant access logs and future proof functionalities, such as QR code access for deliveries and visitors.
2N’s solution
2N’s innovative solutions were identified as suitable candidates for meeting these diverse requirements.
To address the project’s multifaceted needs, several 2N devices were deployed.
Three 2N IP Style intercoms were installed at the main entry points and the shared gate, equipped with full-HD cameras and ten inch touchscreen displays.
Furthermore, a 2N IP Verso security intercom with multiple buttons was integrated into the ground floor entrances of Sperry House, complemented by eight 2N Access Unit 2.0 access readers controlling access to post rooms, car parks and internal link doors.
Each apartment was equipped with a 2N Indoor View answering unit, facilitating video calls on a seven inch touchscreen.
The integration of the My2N app enables residents to manage video calls remotely, ensuring comprehensive oversight of attempted visits.
API integration commands further enhance security measures by enabling alert triggers from the newly implemented CCTV system.
Through meticulous planning and integration of technologies, the company has significantly enhanced the security infrastructure of Sperry and Gilbert House, offering residents peace of mind and streamlined communication capabilities.
“Enhancing the end user experience”
Paul Blundell, Managing Director from Systems Integrator iQual, stated: “The residents really enjoy the new solution.
“There was a video system in place previously, but it was black and white and was difficult to operate.
“The video quality we have now is on a completely different level, easy to support whilst enhancing the end user experience and the fact that they can now access video calls on their mobile phones gives the whole thing a ‘wow’ factor.
“Most important of all, though, the new system is fully reliable and the upgrades significantly improve the security of the buildings.”
